Accused Stalker Inquired: 'However Suppose I Am Madeleine?'
A woman charged with harassing Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a recorded message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, 24, who a jury heard has persistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the tribunal learned phone records and information obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout the past two years.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a trip in Portugal - is among the most covered investigations and is still unresolved.
'I Don't Want Money'
One recorded message, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt declaring: "I understand I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine used to be, but I know what I believe."
While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone said: "Suppose there is a small chance that I am she? What happens next? Isn't that important for you?"
"I do not need money, I possess a life here in Poland, I just want to know," the message continued.
The jury was informed that through electronic messages, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a effort to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.
An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with the police force who collated the information, told the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to close associates of the McCanns, according to the communication logs.
On that date, Mr McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."
During that incident Ms Wandelt left a voicemail on Mrs McCann's answerphone saying "I will persist and I plan to establish my claim."
The court was informed Mrs Spragg established a connection online with Ms Wandelt prior to assisting her on a trip to the McCanns' property in Leicestershire in December 2024.
Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had communicated through messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be considered genuine in the time before the trip to Rothley, that area, in last December.
The court learned message exchanges between the two individuals, in last November, planning trying to acquire Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from utensils at a restaurant.
"We have to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg told Ms Wandelt.
On the evening of the visit to their house, Mrs Spragg dispatched a message which expressed: "We find ourselves sat outside the McCanns' home with our headlights off like private investigators. I had hoped to accomplish this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
The case continues.
