Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Fixture at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced they will play at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in La Liga over two years after they moved out so building work could begin.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, a rise from the old capacity. Officials confirmed finished work included an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held a public practice at the Camp Nou on 7 November. Officials stated they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt next month in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
