His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden title after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, supported by an better serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive final set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
